Documents - Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections

The Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) is responsible for setting the strategic objectives for policing in Sussex.

Police & Crime Commissioners are elected every four years.

Brighton & Hove City Council's Returning Officer assumes the role of the Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) for the Sussex Police area.

The PARO's responsibilities include:

  • candidate nominations
  • ensuring the election is delivered consistency across the Sussex area
  • encouraging participation
  • collating and declaring the result
