Local Development Scheme (Worthing)
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is one component of the Local Development Framework (LDF). It sets out the scope and timetable for the production of the Council's Local Development Documents (LDDs) which are split into two categories:
- Development Plan Documents (DPDs), and
- Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)
Development Plan Documents such as the Core Strategy / Local Plan are the most important documents in Worthing's LDF as, in line with national guidance and legislation, they help to set the planning policies for the town.
Adopted DPDs are then supported by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) which provide further detail on specific issues.
The approved version of the LDS (April 2017) sets out the work programme for a full review of the adopted Core Strategy and the advancement of a new Local Plan for the Borough. The LDS, which covers the period 2017-2019, is available to view below.
UPDATE JANUARY 2018: The published LDS indicates that the next stage of consultation on the emerging Local Plan will take place in winter 2017/18. It should be noted that there has been a delay to this timetable and it is now expected that consultation will be held in summer 2018. A revised timetable / LDS will be published in due course.
