About this site

This is the newest allotment site in Lancing and Sompting, which opened on 6th October 2012.

Formerly a field left fallow, and used primarily for dog walking, it is now an area with 27 plots of varying sizes.

This must be one of the most picturesque sites for an allotment site, set within the boundaries of the South Downs National Park. For details about the National Park see the South Downs National Park website.

Since 16th December 2016 Halewick Lane allotment tenants run self-management through their association, Halewick Allotment Horticultural Association (HAHA). All enquiries about the waiting list are now dealt with by HAHA.

HAHA is responsible for the maintenance of the Halewick Lane allotments including the management of the rents paid, the site security, management of the waiting list, letting of plots and dealing with prospective tenants plus issuing of non-cultivation letters and any subsequent tenancy terminations for breach of the allotment rules and regulations.

Adur District Council remains landowner however and will assist in dealing with any disputes that cannot be resolved through negotiation with HAHA according to the Service Level Agreement HAHA and Adur DC entered into.
