About the Adur Chair

The Chair of Adur District Council
Cllr Julia Watts
2026-27

Julia was brought up in Shoreham and is a former student of Kings Manor School. Following that Julia attended university in London and stayed there for another 15 years for training and work.

She moved back to Shoreham when her children were small in search of the kind of freedom and opportunity for them that she had enjoyed as a child and because her parents selflessly agreed to help look after them. Julia's adult children now live locally and have babies of their own.

Julia trained and worked as a tax advisor in London and then set up her own tax practice here in Sussex, retiring in March 2024. Julia is now enjoying working as a councillor, swimming in the sea, riding her horse on the Downs and looking after her tiny grandson.
