Worthing Masterplan
Share your experience of Worthing town centre and seafront
Help us shape a future town centre and seafront that we can all be proud of ...
As part of our ambition to improve local pride, we are wanting to understand more about things you like and love about the town and equally where there are areas for improvement.
We are hoping you can tell us:
- what you would like to change (from little things to bigger changes)
- what you value about the town
- your ideas for making Worthing an even better place to live, work and visit in the future.
Your feedback and ideas will not only help us (and local partners) prioritise future projects but will also feed into the creation of a town centre and seafront masterplan which will guide longer-term investment and improvements over the next 10 years.
How do I feed in my ideas ?
If you like to do things in person, pop into Worthing Town Hall reception area (or Worthing Library - dates to be confirmed) and add your feedback using stickers on our map and comments sheets.
Otherwise you can feed in using our digital mapping platform - which can be accessed below.
Use our interactive map to tell us:
- places you enjoy
- areas that need improvement
- ideas for new facilities or public spaces
- locations with transport or accessibility issues.
Simply drop a pin (or add a sticker) on the map and add your comments.
Feel free to be as specific or strategic as you want to when you point out things that are great or not so great about our town.
Don't forget as well as physical places or things, we're also interested in understanding how you move through the area. Tell us how you like to get around, which routes work well and why and where improvements could make getting around easier and safer. Do you have a future vision for transport in Worthing - we'd love your thoughts and ideas.
Deadline for all comments: 13th September 2026

What happens to my feedback?
We'll review and combine all responses from the mapping exercises to identify common themes and priorities. These will be discussed at a series of roundtables in September / October 2026 with key stakeholders.
Your feedback will help shape the masterplan, identify future investment opportunities, support bids for external funding, and inform projects delivered with partner organisations.
A draft masterplan will be prepared by Winter 2026 for approval.
We then hope to be able to share this with you in Spring 2027.
Thanks in advance for being part of the process.
FAQs
Why do we need a masterplan?
As we head towards Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), we're looking to develop a masterplan which can help us:
- identify what people value most about the town centre and seafront
- highlight opportunities for improvement
- help prioritise future projects over the next decade
- strengthen applications for external funding
- support Worthing's role within the new Mayoral Strategic Authority
The masterplan is developed as part of the Worthing Growth Deal programme with West Sussex County Council. Apart from staff time, there is no additional cost to Worthing Borough Council.
What about other consultations that have taken place in the last few years?
We've carried out a number of consultation exercises in the past few years which have helped shape the focus for changes in the town centre. Feedback from past sessions and from this master planning exercise remain invaluable in helping shape our focus and key areas for investment.
The engagement for this masterplan differs from previous consultations, in that:
- It primarily focuses on a specific area of our town centre and seafront
- It will help strengthen the vision for the town centre and link projects and initiatives in the next 10 years
- It will be used to create a masterplan document which will strengthen our case when applying for external funding
