How to use your recycling bin

Depending on where you live you will either have a wheelie bin with a blue lid and embossed with two dots, or a blue box for recycling.

Recycling is collected during alternate weeks, apart from for some town centre properties where it is collected weekly.

Check your bin collection date

Please make sure:

• your bin is ready for collection by 6:30am on your collection day
• your bin is left on the kerbside nearest your home, and is accessible from the road
• you wash and squash all your recycling
• all items are dry and loose (no plastic bags)

Recycling large items

If an item is too large to fit in your bin you can take it to be recycled at the tip.

If you are unable to take it to the tip yourself we offer a bulky waste collection service.

You could also consider donating good condition reusable items such as furniture, clothing, books, toys and some electrical goods to charity.
