Adur & Worthing Councils ask schoolchildren to name new food waste trucks
Released: Monday, 12 October 2026
We have launched a competition with primary schools across Adur and Worthing to give children the opportunity to name our new food waste trucks.
Children are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild when coming up with names. Entries can be as creative, imaginative or silly as you want!
Winners will have their chosen names displayed on the vehicle livery and have their picture taken with the trucks at a special presentation day.
A panel of judges will pick the top eight names, plus runners-up for the two vehicles that will join the fleet later on.
If your child would like to enter, simply help them fill out this short form by Monday 9th November 2026:
Councillor Andrew Harvey, Adur's cabinet member for environment, said:
“We're really glad to be launching this fun competition with local schoolchildren, and I'm looking forward to reading all of your entries.”
Councillor Martin McCabe, Worthing's cabinet member for environment, said:
“Children often come up with much more imaginative names for things than us adults, so I'm sure we will have no shortage of brilliant suggestions of what to name our new trucks.”
