Worthing Borough Council plans to sell Methold House to Guild Care to help develop community campus site

We are set to sell Methold House in Worthing to Guild Care so that the social care charity can continue its vital work supporting the community.
The two-storey building in North Street, Worthing, is currently used by the charity as its head office to coordinate its services, which include social activities for older people, dementia support, day services for people with learning disabilities, residential nursing care, and home care services.
Guild Care recently invested in extensive refurbishment works at Methold House as well as at its neighbouring property, Holland House. The charity's ambition for the two buildings is to create a permanent campus for community wellbeing that helps people remain connected and lessens demand on statutory services. Purchasing Methold House will enable Guild Care to secure its long-term future at the site.
The sale was approved by councillors at a meeting of our Joint Strategic Committee. Funds from the sale, which is still subject to contract, could be used to reduce borrowing or reinvest in core services or strategic projects that benefit the community.
Cllr Caroline Baxter, the leader of Worthing Borough Council, said:
“As well as being one of Worthing's largest employers, every year Guild Care supports over 3,000 local people through a diverse range of community support and care services.
“The development of a dedicated site for community wellbeing at Methold House and Holland House will enable the charity to help thousands more Worthing residents in years to come.”
