Tell us what you think of plans for new Lancing investment

Released: Monday, 08 June 2026

We'd like your view on revised plans to improve the centre of Lancing's shopping area after feedback from hundreds of local people.

For the last two years, we've been working with officers at West Sussex County Council on proposals to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds in North Road to help regenerate the area.

Designs have been drawn up for the closure of the North Farm Road junction and its replacement with a pocket park featuring trees and planting to make the area greener and more attractive for the community.

Residents and businesses have told us they'd like improved lighting at the junction as well as additional seating, so this has been taken on board.

The plans have now been updated to include those features, so members of the community are again being asked to comment on the amended designs before the project progresses.

The consultation follows our sale of the empty former police station in North Road so that a children's nursery can be set up there.

Councillor Becky Allinson, Adur's cabinet member for regeneration, said:

“We want to make North Road more inviting so that more people will want to spend time there, which will in turn encourage investment from more businesses that the community needs.

“This is a great opportunity to bring new investment to the centre of Lancing, which we hope residents will support.”

Originally the plans also involved narrowing the entrance to Penstone Park and making it one-way, away from North Road. One of the key concerns residents had was that it could mean more lorries and large vans driving along Annweir Avenue each week, so we've removed that option.

The latest consultation runs until Sunday 19th July 2026. Members of the community can comment online by visiting:

We're also running drop-in sessions during June where you can have your say. They will take place at Lancing Parish Council and in South Street on 12th June, in Queens Parade and at Lancing Station on 16th June, and at Lancing Beach Green on 23rd June.

Investment has been earmarked for the area as part of the West Sussex and Adur Growth Deal - a partnership between the two councils to deliver major projects for the communities across the district.

Residents said that improving the centre of Lancing as an urban green space where people could meet and socialise was a key priority for them when the Lancing: Now and into the Future project was launched in 2022.

Lancing: Now and into the Future is part of our commitment to work with and for the community to prioritise projects that meet residents' needs and aspirations.
