Adur District Council agrees budget and council tax charge for 2026/27
Released: Friday, 27 February 2026
Residents living in the average Band D home will be charged less than 20p per week extra by Adur District Council for its services for the next 12 months.
A meeting of the full council last night agreed to a below-inflation council tax rise of 2.99% - the equivalent of just £10.26 more per year, for an average annual bill of £353.97.
We want to build stronger communities, to improve public spaces and to empower people to make a difference where they live.
Over the next 12 months, we intends to protect Shoreham town centre from flooding through the construction of new tidal defences, and will transform Eastbrook Manor Community Centre in Fishersgate.
We will work with partners to redevelop the derelict ground of Southwick FC into an eye-catching sports facility for the community and to transform the Buckingham Park pavilion in Shoreham.
Scores of Adur residents on the council’s housing waiting list will be found permanent social homes while a new food waste service will be rolled out to all homes in the district.
We will also continue to support the most vulnerable members of the community and invest in its town and village shopping areas and green spaces, while balancing its books.
