New remembrance garden opens at Worthing Crematorium
Released: Tuesday, 10 June 2025
A new remembrance garden has opened at Worthing Crematorium, providing more space for families to lay their loved ones to rest.
Worthing Crematorium previously had one private garden for the interment of cremated remains within its peaceful grounds, but all those plots are now used or reserved and there are over 100 families on a waiting list for a plot.
The new remembrance garden has been built by Worthing Borough Council where the former country house gardens of Muntham Court used to be. There is space for over 330 new permanent resting places, including 223 duo plots for couples and 116 quad plots for families.
Just like the existing gardens, the new remembrance garden will create a tranquil and attractive site for visitors with accessible pathways and sustainable planting that benefits wildlife and works with the environment.
Other types of memorials are also available at Worthing Crematorium, including three glades for scattering cremated remains, a wall of remembrance, oak post plaques or an entry in the book of remembrance.
Cllr Rita Garner, Worthing's cabinet member for regeneration, said:
“We're extremely happy to be able to open up the new remembrance garden at Worthing Crematorium for families to provide a peaceful resting place for their loved ones.
“The team at the crematorium have worked hard to create a beautiful garden that will offer peace and tranquillity to those remembering friends and family.”
