Adur & Worthing Councils launch new approach to work more closely with the community

Released: Wednesday, 14 May 2025

We have launched a new online platform to enable residents to share their visions and ideas for the future of their neighbourhoods.

The new platform will make it easier for residents, community groups and organisations, businesses and public sector partners to get involved and have their say.

As part of our Thriving Together programme, we want to encourage people living and working in Adur and Worthing to come up with ideas for how their neighbourhoods can become better places to live by responding to the prompt, “I wish we could…”.

This information will be used to help shape our proposals for local government reorganisation.

As well as coming up with their own ideas, people will be able to start conversations with each other by responding to ideas shared by others as well as those proposed by us.

The online platform will include information on other ways to get involved, including in-person events, as well as feedback on how ideas will be used.

Cllr Jeremy Gardner, the leader of Adur District Council, said:

“Our vision is for a fairer, greener Adur - a thriving district built on collaboration between residents, businesses, and the council. Communities are at the heart of everything we do, and this is a real opportunity for local people, businesses, and organisations to shape the future of our district.”

Cllr Sophie Cox, the leader of Worthing Borough Council, said:

“We want to transform Worthing into a thriving and inclusive destination that supports the wellbeing of our residents and is attractive to both visitors and employers who want to set up their businesses here. Our vision for the future of Worthing is to develop our seafront, strengthen our local economy, help our environment flourish and create opportunities for all.”

To help familiarise people with the new site as well as find out more about the Thriving Together project and how to get involved, we will be hosting an online event on Wednesday 21st May 2025 from 6pm to 7pm. To reserve your place see:

This is just the first project under our Thriving Together programme. More projects with the chance to get involved will be launched on the new online platform over the coming months.
