Adur telephone box closure consultation

As part of a formal consultation process, BT have advised that the telephone boxes on the list below are proposed for removal.

The council has until 9th April 2026 to respond and therefore should you have any comments regarding the proposed closures, please send them directly to planning@adur-worthing.gov.uk no later than 5pm on Thursday 2nd April 2026 with 'Proposed telephone box closures' in the subject title.

Adur telephone boxes proposed for removal:

  • 01903 755320 - Junction of West End Way and Winston Road, Lancing, BN15 8SL
  • 01903 851347 - Outside 95 Crabtree Lane, Lancing, BN15 9NH

Communities can 'adopt' phone boxes to turn them into something completely different ...

With payphone usage falling, communities are looking at new ways of using them. Thousands of boxes have been reinvented as cafés, mini-libraries, and defibrillator sites. Communities can adopt most red boxes for just £1. They can also adopt modern glass boxes if they want to house a defibrillator. For more information see:
