Beach Huts and Chalets
Adur Council owned chalets

The chalets at Southwick are situated at Southwick Beach and are of a 'continuous concrete block design'. The beach chalets are constructed of brick and measure 12 feet by 12 feet and 7 feet high. The frontage of each chalet is constructed in a manner to offer good views of the beach.
There is a utility chalet with shared access which has a stainless steel sink and drainer, cold water supply and power points for a kettle, toaster etc.
Worthing Council owned beach huts/chalets

The beach huts are located between Heene Road and Marine Gardens to the west of the Pier and the beach chalets are located in a row at Beach Parade, 1/4 mile east of the Pier to the seaward end of Denton Gardens and Beach House Grounds.

Private beach huts
The Councils also own a fixed number of sites, both in Adur and Worthing, on which private beach huts are situated. Owners normally advertise in the local media when they wish to sell their beach hut.
Private Beach Huts are bought and sold on the open market and are usually marketed through local Estate Agents due to their high re-sale value. A licensee wishing to sell a hut must write to the Parks and Foreshore Group, Administration Section, giving the name and address of the potential buyer, so that a new licence can be issued to the buyer. A charge will be made to the seller of the beach hut at 3x the current annual licence fee or 10% of the sale price (whichever is the greater value). The charge will be inclusive of VAT at 20%).
Prices for the beach huts vary according to the size, condition and location. As a guide beach huts can often cost in excess of £5,000.
Site License holders pay an annual fee for the 12 months commencing 1st April.
Prices are subject to an annual increase in April, prices correct as at 01-04-2013.
- The cost for a private beach hut in Worthing is £460
- The cost for a private beach hut in Brighton Road, West Beach Lancing or Shoreham Beach Green is £345
An invoice is sent in March/April each year, which is payable in two equal instalments, the first by 1st April and the second by 1st July.
A vacant site without a hut is extremely rare.
The license granted by the Council is personal to the named licensee and only one person's name can be on the licence.
