Message from the Leader of Adur District Council
Adur is a great place to live, work and visit, and we're working hard to make it better for our whole community. We're building much-needed affordable homes, pushing ahead with regeneration projects and supporting our most vulnerable - all while protecting and enhancing our beautiful environment.
We're building new Council homes and ensuring new properties are being constructed that our residents can afford to rent or buy on under-used sites and brownfield land. With them comes new schools, medical sites and community buildings, better and more sustainable travel links and a new focus on environmental improvements, such as more green spaces, parks and trees where we live.
The last couple of years have been challenging for everyone in Adur. We're committed to helping those who are struggling to get by, giving them financial support, offering grants to make homes more energy efficient and assisting people to get all the benefits they're entitled to but may not know about.
We recognise that every pound we collect from our residents is a pound less for them to spend on essentials, so we're keeping our Council Tax rates as low as possible and looking for ways to work more efficiently.
Thriving businesses, in particular our micro and small businesses, are vital to our community, so we're encouraging the development of modern, energy-efficient new premises to help them innovate and grow.
Transforming our environment is a key priority for the Council, and we're working hard on pioneering projects to restore the Adur Valley estuary and our stretch of sea into havens for wildlife and biodiversity.
At the heart of all our work is our commitment to putting the wants and needs of our residents at the centre of everything we do. Adur is a great place to live and by working closely with the community we can help everyone to feel part of that.
