Adur & Worthing Councils are committed to stewarding, protecting and improving the environment. Working with the local community and collaborating with partners, we are taking action.

These are some of our key Waste Reduction activities and actions this year as part of our long term vision:

Waste Reduction - 50 percent (65 pink)Action: Increase recycling rate to 50% by 2020

Adur & Worthing Councils will:

  • A range of actions to improve the recycling rate
  • Changing collection methods, delivering an awareness and behaviour change campaign to increase recycling rates and reduce waste produced
  • Increasing recycling of non-residential waste streams

Partners include:

  • West Sussex County Council
  • West Sussex Authorities

Waste Reduction - Smiling face (65 pink)Action: Wastebuster recycling and minimisation program for schools

Adur & Worthing Councils will:

  • Provision of an educational tool for pupils to encourage waste reduction recycling and reuse

Partners include:

  • West Sussex County Council
  • West Sussex Authorities

Waste Reduction - No plastic bottles (65 pink)Action: Pledge to become Plastic Free Council

Adur & Worthing Councils will:

  • Become a 'Plastic Free' Council identifying and reducing single use plastics and supporting community action with the Refill and Plastic Free campaigns

Partners include:

  • Worthing Climate Action Network
  • Transition Town Worthing
  • Surfers Against Sewage
