Adur & Worthing Councils are committed to stewarding, protecting and improving the environment. Working with the local community and collaborating with partners, we are taking action.

These are some of our key Biodiversity activities and actions this year as part of our long term vision:

• Protect and enhance biodiversity at Highdown Gardens
• Improve biodiversity at Brooklands Park
• Improve biodiversity in all our parks, 2 Green Flags a year

Action: Protect and enhance biodiversity at Highdown Gardens

Adur & Worthing Councils will:

• Protect the unique National Chalk Plant Collection at Highdown Gardens and improve accessibility and visitor experience

Partners include:

• Heritage Lottery Fund
• South Downs National Park
• Plant Heritage
• Millennium Seed Bank (Wakehurst College)
• Plumpton College
• Worthing Museum

Action: Improve biodiversity at Brooklands Park

Adur & Worthing Councils will:

• Adopt and implement Brooklands Park Masterplan, completing transformation into a science adventure destination park
• Improving and significantly enhancing biodiversity, accessibility for all and visitor experience

• Friends of Brooklands Park
• Others to be determined

Action: Improve biodiversity in all our parks, 2 Green Flags a year

Adur & Worthing Councils will:

• Improve the biodiversity, and the community and environmental value of parks by achieving Green Flag status for a further 2 parks every year
