Examination Joint Area Action Plan

Shoreham Harbour Regeneration

The councils have now received the Inspector's report on the Shoreham Harbour Joint Area Action Plan. This finds that the plan is sound and legally compliant, subject to the proposed main modifications. These modifications were discussed at the examination hearings, and subject to consultation in early 2019. Please see the consultation page for further details.

The plan will be formally adopted by the local authorities in October 2019.

Appointment of Independent Planning Inspector

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has appointed an independent Planning Inspector to examine the Shoreham Harbour Joint Area Action Plan.

Adur District Council, Brighton & Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council submitted the plan to the Secretary of State in May 2018.

Planning Inspector Anne Napier BA(Hons) MRTPI MIEMA CEnv has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the Joint Area Action Plan is sound.

Examination

The independent Planning Inspector will check that all legal and other requirements have been met. The Inspector will take into account the submission documents and evidence base and will also consider the representations received following the publication of the Proposed Submission Shoreham Harbour Joint Area Action Plan in November 2017.

The examination process will involve hearing sessions, where those invited to participate by the Inspector will have the opportunity to respond to matters raised. The hearing sessions will be open to the public to attend, but only those invited to participate in the hearings will be able to speak. The precise date for the formal hearing part of the examination of the plan has been determined by the Inspector. Details have been provided in the following Examination Documents:

Day 1: 19th September 2018

Morning Session: 10am:

Afternoon Session: 2pm:
