What happens to my recycling?

A state of the art Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) has opened in Ford, near Arundel. Attached to this facility is an Education Room, which, since September 2009, allows school children to learn and see for themselves what happens to their recycling after it is collected from their homes.

During the two-hour sessions, children can learn how the MRF sorts the recycling ready for the next stage of the recycling process. CCTV will track each part of the system to show the MRF in action. The room is designed to demonstrate the concept of 'Close the Loop', highlighting each stage of recycling. Sessions include activities to compliment these stages and a chance to head out onto the viewing platform to see the MRF in operation.

This facility is available to class sized groups of children in Key Stage Two and above.
