Queen's 90th birthday events

HRH - The Queen - 90th Birthday - 1926 to 2016 (white)

The Queen's 90th and the Duke of Edinburgh's 95th birthdays being celebrated in Adur and Worthing this June:

  • Thursday 21st April 2016 - The Queen's 90th birthday
  • Friday 10th June 2016 - Prince Philip's 95th birthday
  • Saturday 11th June 2016 - The Queen's official 90th birthday

Over the next few months we will be publishing details of events being hosted by local residents in celebration of the Queen's and Prince Philip's respective landmark birthdays.

If you are hosting a community event, we would love to hear from you and help promote it via our Facebook page, Twitter account and here on our website.

Just send us the location, date, times and what you are planning and we can let the rest of Adur and Worthing know. Please email all your details to news@adur-worthing.gov.uk. Any pictures or logos to accompany your planned event would also be appreciated.

Please also email us if you need advice on hosting an event. Would you like to close your street for example, to host a street party? Do you need to know about parking, travel, that kind of thing? Free 'Queen's 90th Birthday Picnic' in Steyne Gardens, Worthing

  • bring your own picnic and picnic blankets
  • 12 noon to 2:00pm - Circus Seen teaching circus skills
  • live Music
  • free Union Jack flags for the first 100 to arrive
  • free Children's craft 'Crown' making space
  • coffee van and ice cream van

Sunday, 12th June 2016
Queen's Lunch & Tea party on Coronation Green, Shoreham-by-Sea

  • you can wither bring your own food & drink, or buy it from food on the go providers
  • the event also ties into 'The Big Lunch Day'
  • the Farmers' market and Adur World Oceans day also take place the previous day (Saturday 11th June) so this should make a fantastic weekend for the community as a whole

Free 'Prom's on the Lawn Big Band Party' at Lancing Beach Green & Lawn


Events - that have happened

Thursday, 21st April 2016: from 7:45pm
Lighting the Worthing Beacon:

  • arrive from 7:45pm at the Beacon, opposite the Beach Office on Marine Parade, Worthing seafront
  • singing of the National Anthem
  • reading of the message from HRH The Prince of Wales
  • followed by the lighting of the Beacon by the Mayor of Worthing at 8:30pm
  • all attending to sing Happy Birthday to HM The Queen during the lighting
  • please come along and support this event

Finally ... on Friday 4th March 2016 the Mayor of Worthing, Councillor Michael Donin, MP Tim Loughton, Worthing Council leader Daniel Humphreys and Councillor Ann Bridges joined a host of Adur & Worthing Councils staff outside Worthing Town Hall for a 'Flash Mob Clean Up', as part of a national Clean for The Queen weekend.
