The Planning Process - post Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As we gradually ease out of lockdown restrictions we are undertaking more site visits and returning to Planning Committee meetings being held in public.  However, we are also keen to retain some of the benefits of remote working, reducing unnecessary travel and delivering a more digital planning service.

We are keen to encourage electronic communications with the planning department and will only accept paper copies of planning applications in exceptional circumstances.  The Councils are reviewing future working arrangements and the majority of  planning staff will continue to work remotely until Christmas. To avoid delays we would greatly appreciate that where possible all applications continue to be submitted online and all application fees being submitted via the Planning Portal. While we can exceptionally allow electronic payments over the phone, please note this may lead to a delay in the validation of your application. This more environmentally friendly approach also reduces the overall cost of the planning service and improves the efficiency of the service.

Once the application has been validated if you do need to submit amended plans or supporting information you can email quoting your file reference and Case Officer name.

If you require any advice on your application please contact the Case Officer by phone or email in the normal way.
