Invest five minutes in Adur and Worthing and help our environment

Released: Monday, 17 April 2023

Have you got five minutes to spare this weekend, to help make Adur and Worthing look its best?

Saturday 22nd April is Earth Day 2023 - the international day of action when people around the world are encouraged to work together to help the environment.

The theme of Earth Day 2023 is Invest In Our Planet, so we're asking visitors and residents from across Adur and Worthing to invest five minutes of their time into helping clean our streets, parks and beaches.

We'll be running a beach clean from Worthing Coastal Office in Marine Parade between Heene Road and the Splash Pad from 9am to 5pm on Saturday. We can lend litter pickers and bags to any members of the community who want to come along and get involved.

But it's not just about making the beach look its best.

Our waste and cleansing teams are out and about every week emptying rubbish bins and collecting litter they find across Adur and Worthing.

As the weather is improving, more and more people are enjoying our beautiful open spaces - but unfortunately not everyone is putting their litter in the bins provided.

We're doing all we can to pick up rubbish, but any time you can give to stop crisp packets, drink containers and other bits of plastic from polluting our paths and open spaces helps make Adur and Worthing to be better for everyone.

We don't want you to put yourself in any danger, so please don't go into the road to collect rubbish or try to pick up hazardous items like broken glass by hand.

We'll be posting reminders on our Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council Facebook pages through the week. And on Saturday you can upload your photos of how you invested five minutes of your time into helping clean up your neighbourhood.
