Independent persons sought to support Adur and Worthing councillors

Released: Monday, 02 November 2020

Could you help councillors in Adur and Worthing maintain their high standards of conduct?

Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council are looking for two independent persons to provide impartial advice on matters of conduct, ethics and standards in public life.

The successful applicants’ views will also be taken into account by authorities when considering allegations that the Members’ Code of Conduct has been breached.

Applicants, who will serve a four year term from December, will need to live or work in the Adur and Worthing area.

They will be tactful, diplomatic, impartial and apolitical and respectful of confidentiality while understanding the importance of holding a public office position.

Those holding the voluntary position will receive a £100 payment for attendance at each committee meeting, in addition to reasonably incurred expenses.

Full training and support will be provided.

To apply or to ask further questions about the role contact susan.sale@adur-worthing.gov.uk. Applications close by midday on November 20.
