Grant support for Adur and Worthing businesses

Businesses needing a helping hand are being urged to bid for free financial support provided by Adur & Worthing Councils.

The Small Business Grant and Apprenticeship Grant continues to support innovative projects across Adur and Worthing, with applications from Adur particularly welcome.

Following the launch of the Small Business Growth Grant and Apprenticeship Grant in May, more than 70 local companies have secured additional funding towards innovative projects.

The scheme - run by Adur & Worthing Councils in association with the Adur & Worthing Business Partnership - is aimed at helping to finance business growth and apprenticeship training across the area.

Local micro businesses can apply for up to £2,500 to fund capital purchases, such as new equipment, support with marketing, training or making improvements to their commercial business premises.

This funding is then matched by the business, providing project funding up to £5,000 in total.

Local small businesses can also apply for a one off grant of £1,500 per apprentice (up to a maximum of 2) to help cover the costs of taking on and training an apprentice.

Local business Simplex, based on Lancing Business Park, recently benefited from the scheme, securing funding towards a more efficient and secure oil tank.

As a supplier of metal fabrications to the sign trade for the last 30 years, they recognised the benefit of investing in key equipment, leading to greater efficiency and reducing any potential environmental impact on their premises.

“This funding continues to benefit and help in the development of many small local businesses within the Worthing and Adur region.”

Full details of the grant, which is only available to businesses based in Adur until the end of the year, can be found online here. Funding in Worthing is set to be renewed in 2019.

The grant is delivered on a strict first come, first served basis.
