Councils launch new web pages for easier access and service
Released: Thursday, 19 November 2020
New features on the Adur & Worthing Councils' website which will make accessing services easier for residents are unveiled today (Thursday 19th November 2020).
A new look home page which allows residents to more easily find what they are looking for and brings them quickly up to date with the latest news is one feature.
Up-to-date information on a range of Councils' services, including benefits, waste collections, planning issues, housing, parking and well being, included on revamped pages and a range of easy-to-use payment options for items such as rent, Council Tax and waste are now available.
In addition the new pages have been designed to be easier to navigate and find what residents are looking for. The site also gives much clearer signposting to latest developments with council services and consultations on issues like Local Plans, building projects and licensing applications.
The new pages also incorporate new digital accessibility thinking, cleaner design and typography for instance, making them easier to use for people with disabilities, impaired visions and motor difficulties.
The website, which is visited more than three million times by residents and others every year, is a huge undertaking with more than 2,000 pages of information having to be constantly updated. Because of its size the new look and navigation devices have been introduced on select pages first and will be rolled out in the next few months.
Adur District Council’s Executive Member for Resources, Cllr Angus Dunn, said:
“As well as refreshing what we offer on the website we are also making it easier for residents to use online to interact with us and pay bills without having to wait on the end of a telephone line. It is completely safe, quicker and more efficient.”
Worthing Borough Council’s Executive Member for Digital and Environmental Services, Cllr Edward Crouch, said:
“I'm really pleased with this revamp of the website. We are achieving what we set out to do which is making the website easier to use for residents, whether quickly paying for services or looking for important information. We are endeavouring to make the website a very useful resource for our residents and I hope they like what they find.”
