Adur leader pays tribute to former chairman
Released: Friday, 08 November 2019
The leader of Adur District Council has paid tribute to a former chairman of the authority who served the community for decades.
Mima Robinson, 94, lived in Lancing for more than 50 years, representing a range of community groups during that time, including serving as chairman of governors at North Lancing Primary School.
A commercial and legal secretary by profession, she also was elected to both Adur District and Lancing Parish councils, serving as the non-political civic head of both.
Mima retired to Spain with her husband John (who was also a councillor) in 2001 before returning to Lancing in 2009 after his death.
Cllr Neil Parkin, leader of Adur District Council, said:
“She was a great and formidable lady who served the people of Lancing well for many years. I remember her fondly and cannot speak highly enough of the contribution she made to her community.”
“My condolences go to her family, especially her two sons Bill and John, who I know well from his time as a councillor.”
Mrs Robinson's funeral will be held next Friday (15th November 2019) at 2pm in Tribes funeral chapel in Shoreham. Donations will go to the Alzheimer's Society and can be made through Tribes.
