A new quicker way to sign up to garden waste collections - and money off too!
Released: Friday, 01 November 2019
“Let us shift it for you” - that's the message from Adur & Worthing Councils to green-fingered residents who are looking for a quick and easy way to get rid of their garden waste this autumn.
For just £1.70 a week, subscribers receive a large 240-litre green lidded bin for all their leaves, weeds and cuttings, which our professional crews collect 50 weeks of the year.
The organic material is then turned into compost by a locally-based company - making it a quick, easy and environmentally-friendly way for householders to dispose of their garden waste.
Signing up to the service has never been easier as a new online tool means that customers can now order their bin in just a few simple clicks (see link below).
As an extra incentive, new subscribers signing up by mid-December will receive a £10 discount off the annual amount - making now the perfect time for householders to get recycling their garden waste.
Councillor Emma Evans, Adur District Council's Executive Member for Environmental Services, said:
“With thousands of customers across the area, our garden waste collections are an extremely popular way for residents to dispose of leaves, twigs and lawn cuttings from their outdoor areas.”
“Not only does it save on trips to the tip, but customers use their bins knowing that they will be collected on time every week by our excellent waste and recycling crews.”
Councillor Edward Crouch, Worthing Borough Council's Executive Member for Digital and Environmental Services, said:
“The garden waste collections are an extremely convenient way for residents to recycle organic material in their outdoor areas.”
“With a new online service now available making signing up quicker and easier than ever, there's really no excuse for households not to sign up this excellent environmentally-friendly service.”
More than 14,000 households across the area are currently signed up to the weekly collections, which cost £85 a year.
Among the materials accepted include grass cuttings, weeds, flowers, leaves, plants and hedge and tree cuttings.
Green-lidded containers are collected 50 weeks of the year on the same day as householders' refuse or recycling collections.
