WW1 bench unveiled in Sompting
Released: Tuesday, 09 July 2019
A new WW1 commemorative bench has been unveiled in Sompting Village.
Adur District Council and Sompting and Lancing Parish Councils have come together to arrange the installation to mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of the first World War and the 75 year anniversary of D-Day.
This bench has been funded by Adur District Council as part of its work to create environments which people want to live and work in.
Councillor George Barton, Adur District Council's Chairman, said:
“Installing this WW1 commemorative bench, not only provides a place for remembrance, but also serves to reinforce the image and identity of Sompting Village.”
Working with partners, a number of projects have been delivered to positively contribute to the development of the Adur and Worthing, including in Montague Place in Worthing, Queensway and Queensway Parade in Lancing and East Street in Shoreham.
