Adur & Worthing Councils Gambling Consultation
Released: Tuesday, 19 February 2019
Adur & Worthing Councils commitment to fair and responsible regulation of the gambling industry is to be upheld as it holds a consultation on its current policy.
While The Gambling Commission is responsible for the majority of administration and enforcement relating to betting, local authorities look after premises licences, gaming permits and local lotteries.
As part of a regular review, Adur District and Worthing Borough Council have made some minor changes to their current policies with the aim of bringing them up to date. No changes to the intent or direction of the policies are included.
A consultation of the authorities, stakeholders and public will take place over a period of four weeks until Friday 15th March 2019.
The final drafts will then be presented to the respective Council's Licensing & Control Committee for adoption.
A spokesman for Adur & Worthing Councils said:
“We are proud to say that complaints regarding gambling premises in Adur and Worthing have been extremely rare which is in part due to the proactive approach we place on ensuring our policy around gambling is current and relevant.”
To view and comment on the policy, see our Gambling Act webpage.
