Released: Wednesday, 22 February 2017

Over the next two weeks Worthing's newest gallery space, Colonnade House on Warwick Street, will showcase winning images from the 'Visit Worthing Photography Competition'.

Councillor Bryan Turner, Worthing Borough Council Executive Member for Regeneration, adds:

“Having recognised the need to bring our visitor marketing in line with the changing nature of Worthing, this competition was specifically aimed at getting local residents and businesses engaged and involved in that process. With over 220 photos entered, this exhibition is just a small selection of the many stunning images submitted and are testament to the success of the whole process. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to enter and share their personal view of Worthing.”

The competition was sponsored by Jessops, Worthing - who provided large canvases of each of the six winning images. Additionally winners received prizes donated by local businesses based on their themed category these included a stand up paddleboard lesson, dinner at Crescent Road, theatre and cinema tickets and vouchers for Quest Cycles and Beales Department store.

Tom Freer, from Studio Freer, said:

“I was so pleased my photograph was chosen to represent shopping in Worthing, it's the small independent businesses, including the arts and crafts, that are really making Worthing feel like an exciting place to be.”

Lauren Roffey, from Baked, said:

“It has been great to have been part of a competition that really shows the breadth of what we have on offer here in our town.”

Worthing resident Chloe Langton, who won the water sports category, said:

Francesca Kasak, Manager of Worthing Jessops, said:

“It's been great to team up with Visit Worthing and support the photography competition we're really impressed with calibre of winning images - the exhibition is well worth a visit.”
