How to pay Business Rates

Payment of Business Rate instalments must be received by the Council by the date shown on the bill. Your bill shows you how much and when to pay. Prior to 1st April 2014 this was normally on the 1st of each month from April to January inclusive, but since 2014/15 you can choose to pay by twelve instalments on the 1st of each month from April to March. If you wish to pay by twelve instalments please contact the Business Rates Section because we will need to re-profile your monthly amounts.

Direct Debit

This saves both you and the Council time and money and is the Council's preferred method of payment. It is quick simple and comes with a guarantee (on Direct Debit website). Paying by Direct Debit will allow payments to be made monthly, half yearly, or annually.

If you would like to pay by Direct Debit please print out, complete and return the appropriate Direct Debit mandate form (below) depending on whether your business is in Adur or Worthing. Alternatively please contact the Revenues & Benefits service.

Adur payments can be made:

  • monthly: on 1st, 15th or 25th of each month from April to January/March
  • half yearly: on 1st, 15th or 25th of April and September
  • annually: on 15th April each year

Worthing payments can be made:

  • monthly: on 1st, 8th or 15th of each month from April to January/March
  • half yearly: on 1st, 8th or 15th of April and September
  • annually: on 15th April each year

If you would like to pay by Direct Debit please print out, complete and return the relevant Direct Debit mandate form (below) or contact the Revenues and Benefits section:
