Youth Council Support Volunteer

Adur & Worthing Youth Council - small

  • Hours: 10 hrs weekly
  • Based in: Adur District and Worthing Borough Area

Are you enthusiastic about young people's rights and making sure they are included in decisions that affect them?

Would you be willing to support young people across Adur and Worthing and help them develop the skills to enable them to participate in local democracy, support activities and projects they want to take forward?

If the answer is 'yes' then we are offering a unique opportunity for someone to support the work of the Adur & Worthing Youth Councils.

This is a rewarding position and gives the successful candidate a real chance to make a difference to both those involved in the Youth Council and the wider community in turn.

The Council are an elected body of dynamic young people aged between 12 to ­19 who live, work or go to school in Adur or Worthing.

They need someone to help coordinate their activities, assist with their elections and provide a link between them and local authorities in the local area.

Elections for the Youth Council take place across Adur and Worthing in March where candidates are elected for a 3 year term.

The Youth Councils meet every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month in the Town Hall, Worthing, 6:30pm to 8:30pm but also attend extra community meetings when needed.

Adur & Worthing Councils can be found in the 'south eastern corner edge' of the area covered by West Sussex County Council, which is based in Chichester (about 20 miles west of Worthing).

East Sussex County Council is the neighbouring county and it is based in Lewes (about 15 miles east of Adur).

Brighton & Hove City Council immediately abuts to the east of the Adur District.
