Joint Independent Remuneration Panel - Vacancies

Are you interested in reviewing what councillors do?

If so, we would like you to consider becoming a member of Adur & Worthing Councils' Joint Independent Remuneration Panel.

The Panel is responsible for making recommendations to the Councils for the setting of Councillors' allowances.

We are looking for people with sound judgement and good analytical skills, who can offer an unbiased and impartial approach to ensuring that the allowances paid to Councillors fairly reflect the work they do.

To be eligible to apply, you should:

  • have a wish to serve the local community and uphold local democracy
  • demonstrate high standards of personal integrity
  • be objective, independent and impartial
  • be available to attend 4 to 5 meetings a year in Adur and / or Worthing Town Hall, or online

You should not:

  • have been an elected member of Adur District Council or Worthing Borough Council within the past five years
  • have been an employee of Adur District Council or Worthing Borough Council within the past five years
  • be a relative or close friend of an elected member of Adur District Council or Worthing Borough Council
  • be a relative or close friend of an employee of Adur District Council or Worthing Borough Council
  • be an independent member of the Councils Joint Governance Committee (legislation prevents a dual role)

Panel members will receive £75 per panel meeting they attend, with the chair of the panel receiving £100 per meeting.
