Restart a claim
If it's more than 26 weeks since your claim was cancelled from or your circumstances have changed, you will need to complete a new claim.
You can restart a previous claim using a process called Rapid Reclaims. This is a fast process for customers who:
-
Have previously been awarded Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit/Support based on entitlement to Income Support or Job Seeker's Allowance, and
-
Cancelled their claim because they have started work for a short period, and
-
Are now re-claiming Income Support or Job Seeker's Allowance, and
-
Also want to reclaim Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit/Support, and their circumstances are exactly the same as when they last claimed.
We will only be able to accept a Rapid Reclaim form if it is less than 26 weeks since the end of your previous Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit/Support entitlement.
